Go to your doctor, they're the only ones that can give you stuff that works.
Zineryt works REALLY well for me.
If that doesn't work, its the antibiotics, then on to roaccutane. If you're a girl, the pill, in particular dianette is good for acne, though it doesn't stop mine completely on its own.
As for over the counter stuff, its a load of crap if you have proper acne (I'm not talking a coupla pimples every month here)

Proactiv worked alright for me in the beginning but it dried my skin really badly. I've used a lot of topical medication but my dermatologist doesn't think my acne is severe enough for me to start using Accutane. I'm currently on the Clear Skin Regimen. The products are really cheap and the regimen isn't really rigorious. It's helped a lot of people (view the testimonials). Give it a try.

BIRTH CONTROL PILLS, particularly ortho-tricyclen or Yasmin. I am also 25, and I've been dealing with serious, hardcore acne since I was 12. I have NEVER got so many compliments on my skin as the past few years I was on birth control...I've been on it since I was 18 and my skin has never looked better. I have tried every over-the-counter product and antibiotic in human history and absolutely nothing worked except birth control.

I have worse breakouts now then I did when I was your age, but now I use Emu oil. I get it at Hi Health. It helps my skin heal and look better than anything I have tried. Its an oil, but does not make your skin greasy and does not dry your skin out like a lot of these treatments. Cleanse your face in the AM and PM and apply the oil, just a small amount. Research it on the web. Good Luck.

I started to use the Philosophy products- and its done so well with my skin. There's a kit called "Optional" and it includes a face wash, moisturizer, serum, and a scrub. It's been great. I've been using it for about 6 weeks now, and its really cleared up my skin.
Also- my friend's mom is a dermotologist and she absolutely swears by the Cetaphil cleaners.

I still have a problem with it too, although not too bad anymore. I tried Proactiv and it worked pretty well for a while and then it just seemed to stop working. Also it dried my face out really badly. Now I use Clean & Clear face wash, the one with 10% benzoyl peroxide. It works pretty well for me.
