The old metal Briggs carburetors were pretty bad. It's worth the 40-50 bucks to buy a new carb-fuel tank assembly IF the rest of the motor isn't worn out. The new carbs are plastic and simple and work well. If the motor starts right up every time the bottom half is still good and worth repairing. Also replace the tube that runs from the output of the carb to the intake. The metal ones deformed and leaked, the new plastic ones are better.

some times u can remove the primer bulb an coat it with rtv, that will help seal the rubber an still let it work,, but if not then go ahead an seal it off, if it uses mixed gas an oil use w.d.40 to start it that will keep the cylinder from drying out,, if using non mix then u can use carb cleaner to start motor, that way u r less likely to have it blow back at u or have a fire

If the bulb is only cracked or has a small hole you can try a flexible silicon sealer like shoe goo, just do not use too much and let it dry at least 12-20 hours.

no you can,t block it off but you Can still buy the bulb for it,,and you can also buy a carb-kit also that contain,s the bulb,,and if it,s that old ,,i would just go ahead and get the kit,,it only takes about an hour or so to re-build it,,and with the kit also you get all new gasket,s,,hoe this helps you some.

most primer bulbs are pretty much all standard you could go to a lawmmower shop to purchase one or buy a new carb ,there made of plastic and are not expensive...you dont want to modify carburators because of the risk of a fire good luck

Where do you live that you can't get this part? I manage an autoparts store and we sell them. Try either a small engine shop, or a Sears Service Center. Also many saw shops carry them.

old trick you may try. find a bottle nipple that doesnt have a hole in it yet and trim it down to fit the opening on the mower and use it to prime it.
