Why haven't we eliminated all the poppy plants in Afganistan?

The primary source of herion comes from the poppy plant - while we have troops there in Afiganistan,what have we done to eliminate this plant and source of evil.

Why should we? It is their main and only export at the moment. a lot of it is sold to Pharmacudical companies to make medicen (Phenigren With Codine, Codine, Vicodine, Morphine, Oxy-Conton) WHY DO YOU WANT TO KILL THEIR ONLY MEANS OF MAKING A LIVING?
