can anyone tell me is a slug a snail without its shell,and when does a snail grow its shellinfact any info on snails would be great

To have or not to have a shell, that's the question... Having a shell means that you are a snail, not having one means you're a slug. Millions of years ago slugs had shells too. They lost them in the cause of evolution, but still have a remainder: chalky grains or even een chalky plate just behind the head. They are of the biggest pest of all snails and slugs in the garden: the Grey Garden Slug. It will eat almost any plant and can be extremely destructive in rainy summers

Yes a slug is a snai with out a shell.. They are normally a couple inches long and about a half an inch - an inch wide.. they're groos little creatures.. I'm not sure when a snail grows it's shell, but i know when it grows to big, it moves out to find another...

By the way snails are hermaphrodite so only need to find another snail. You can not have a gay snail

salt will dry them up. that's all i really know about them. and you cancount across a snails shell to see how old it is. each curve going-------->across is a year.
