Fraternal twins come from 2 different eggs, so the twins usually look different. Identical twins occur when one egg is fertilized and then splits in 2, thereby causing the twins to look identical.

Identical Twins is a single Zygote, (the combined product of a sperm and egg uniting), that splits into 2 cells while dividing. Fraternal Twins are two eggs that have been fertilized

Fraternal = Two eggs are released, both fertilized, different genetic material.

fraternal - two eggs are fertilized by two different sperm, different DNA
Fraternal can be girl/girl, boy/boy, or boy/girl...identical can only be girl/girl or boy/boy!! Hope that helps...
