I have twin boys, both circumcised but about 5 weeks apart. One was just circumcised the normal way and looks fine. The head is completely exposed and the skin is far back behind the head. The other was circumcised with a little plastic cap thing tied around the penis and fell off after several days, and left the skin bunched up covering about half the head. I am unhappy with the result.
I want to get it redone so it looks normal like my other sons. I don't want them to use that plastic cap thing. What is another way they can do a circumcision (without the cap thing) and should I insist on them not using the plastic cap?

Unfortunately, a circumcised Penis does not look "Normal"
I would wait, As they get older, say puberty, it may all look the same and by then they can choice to take the risk of making it look worse. There are many ways to circumcise a Penis None are wrong and none are right. I assume you are the mother and wouldn't know to never mention the look of your boys to them no matter how old they are. Don't ever say anything about how it looks good or bad, its just your opinion anyway and could really harm they're esteem.

Adults are free to mutilate themselves as they wish, but to do it to a baby without a rare medical condition is child abuse.
Inflicting unnecessary pain on a baby should, without exception, be a crime.

It is no different from female circumcision - unnecessary, barbaric.
Religions and people in power thought it produced more loyal subjects, people were less likely to play with themselves.
It is certainly not more healthy, the procedure often causes complications and infections.
ONLY IGNORANT RELIGIOUS PEOPLE WOULD RECOMMEND IT.
Some people would chop their babies arms off, if they were told that it is what God wanted.
( it's healthier - no more tennis elbow)
They must imagine God is standing at the gates of heaven checking penis's.
Don't mess with mother nature.

That is funny.... this happened to my son too!!! I consulted with my doctor and she said as he gets older it will peel back like a normal circumsized boy... the skin will probley re-fused itself around the head of the penis, but don't worry... I wouldn't worry and don't get it redone... that would be soo painful for him... It will get better... also you don't want them to take off too much skin... then when he is older and gets an erection the skin he does have will be too tight and hurt him. But your choice is your choice... talk to your doctor and see what they think

Mam, If there is no medical reason to redo the circumsicion, Don't!!! As long as the skin was not cut to tight there is no reason to do anything to it. As it grows it will need some of the excess skin to allow for stretching... Have you considered the extensive, extreme amount of pain you are willing to put your infant throught , just for cosmetic reason. Please, if possible have mothers that you are close with look at it , Only moms who have had baby boys with circumsicions, Likelyhood they will all tell you each of there childs' looks different. I have seen many little boys , I am a nurse,and each is different . Please reconsider your reason for doing this. It is extremely painful and may not be necessary.

please don't get it redone. leave well enough alone. nothing's wrong with having some skin... in fact, it sounds like that's the purpose of the plastic cap thing. hopefully not tmi, but... i'm circumcised, but still with a decent amount of skin... and i would absolutely not want any less!

You could see a Rabbi they don't use plastic caps when they circumcise

You need to contact a urologist or mohel (Jewish ritual circumcizer, if you are Jewish) Some urologists and mohelim specialize in correcting circumcisions gone wrong, but if it is functional as is they may not want to do it, since there is some risk in any surgical procedure

Good for you for making the effort to spare your son possibly a lot of humiliation later in school. But you need to be talking to a surgeon to get real answers.

i dont know of any methods with or without caps but i definately agree that you should request them not to use the cap!!!
