in Romania it was illegal(till 1990) and many women still did it in horrible conditions and died after or where sterile for the rest of their lives and some of them who had an unwanted child abandoned the baby so there were many abandoned children, and women who were in ther 40s had to have the child. don't get me wrong, I'm against abortion but i believe also in a woman's right to choose and i must say that in this time it was illegal using contraceptives and condoms, you had to have relations and money to be able to find contraceptives, you couldn't find them in pharmacies.

Before the scientific discovery that human development began at fertilization, British common law allowed abortions to be performed before quickening, the earliest perception of fetal movement by a woman during the second trimester of pregnancy. In 1861, the British Parliament passed the Offences Against the Person Act, which outlawed abortion throughout the British Empire. The Soviet Union, with legislation in 1920, and Iceland with legislation in 1935 were some of the first countries to generally allow abortion. The second half of the 20th century saw the liberalization of abortion laws in other countries.

Where are you from, i live in Queensland Australia and my partner was saying that he heard over the radio(JOHN LAWS)i think that was the name of the fella he was listening to that in QLD we where not allowed to take the abortion pill.
I also think that if a women has been raped she should be-able to have an abortion, but a women who goes out and just spreads her legs should be made to take on the responsibilities, but then when you think about it the baby will most likely go through hell for the rest of there life.

Over here in netherlands ppl can get abortion untill 20th week. these abortionpills we can even buy them at pharmacy without any prescription of the doctor. It just encourages even more to just have sex and dont think about the concequences. I dont think there a lot of countries left in europe where abortion is illegal, perhaps italy

Of course it is illegal in many countries, those that don't allow women to have the same rights as men. Being an uneducated kid, you should really look farther than your church to get to the truth about abortion, and who has them. Religion should play no part in reproductive rights, but sadly, it is making a comeback in north america, due to theinfluence of the fundamentalist dogma

Religion aside it's a matter of human lifes, not "women's rights" Anybody ever think about the baby's right to live? Is it OK for you to decide you don't what the kid later too? Kill off all the annoying 5 year olds they are not citizens yet. How can the world be so dense................

Yes I wish it was here, it is sad that a nation that trys to say it is a model for other nations, can allow the murder and buther of 1000's of babies each year.
It is a disgrace on our nation, on our culture and on the moral people who can not get past denominational issues to vote this murderous group of people who approve of this out of office.

Poland is against abortion; I know that the UN has been pressurizing it to loosen its frown at it.
