harmful to my computer. ie. Microsoft Office, etc. I guess there is an .exe program that you run to install MS office and that is what it blocked, along with other things. So I tried to delete it and it said "cannot delete: Access is denied. Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected and that the file is not currently in use". I made sure the file was not in use. I even tried to uninstall it and that still didn't work. I want it off of my computer!! ASAP. what do i do?????

Go to Start, run and type in msconfig. This will give you your start up options. Try to find the offending file in the Services and Startup tabs, it might be just as easy to deselect everything and restart your PC.

If this is a registered version of McAfee then you should uninstall it and reinstall. If its not a registered version, delete it and download Norton Anti Virus from Limewire.com. It's a beter program and won't cost you anything.

After you've reinstalled your anti virus software, run msconfig again and select everything in your Services ans Startup tabs. Everything should work fiine then.

Some of these programs need access to the internet. That is when your firewall would block it. not your anti-virus. if you have the latest McAfee go into your security center program. click on the fire logo (your firewall). Click on internet applications. give all of microsofts programs full access to the web. most already do but microsoft office is "unrecoginized" by mcafee. that is because office can be used to created micros and there are Illegal copies of office that are destructive out there on the web.

I hope this helps

if not contact me via my profile

DO NOT DOWNLOAD AN ANTI VIRUS FROM LIMEWIRE> EVER.

I have the latest version of McAfee and am a subscriber to news updates from McAfee and Trend.

First you might want to remove all of Mcfee anti-virus and see if that is the problem. try any of the programs that were being blocked by Mcfee. Once you see that all your programs are running fine do updates on them and than reinstall Mcfee anti-virus. Try running the programs after you have done updates on all programs and mcfee as well. Now if it still occurs, it might be something else that is trying to update on your Microsoft Office program. Go to these website
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/officeupdate/default.aspx
just copy and paste it on your address bar and do any updates it needs, if you have mcfee installed disable it for that moment you are doing the updates since it is a exec file.

Here is a package that protects me and my neighbor. I haven't been infected in 5 months, and since I put it on his computer, he hasn't been infected in 3 months. He likes to download porn and it still protects him. Best of all everything is Free and work as good and better than pay packages.

Download the latest Java Update 7. Then remove any older versions from your computer.

Go here and download the following programs: All will be in the first 3 red boxes.

Firewall. - If you have XP with SP2 then use the existing Windows firewall. It is excellent. If not then download Zone Alarm free version.

Anti-Virus program - If you have one then use it or replace it with one of these: AVG 7.1 or AVAST

Anti-Spy programs: Use more than one. None can catch all the garbage out there: Windows Defender Beta 2, Spybot Search and Destroy, AdAware SE Personal.

This program will work with the AV and AS programs and add an additional layer of protection and it really works great.

This program will alert you to bad sites:

These are my recommendation based on what protects me and my neighbor
