Well Tom has a good news for private lovers:
"we now have a private profile option for everyone. from your home page, click 'account settings' and from there click 'privacy settings'. you'll see an option to make your profile viewable to 'friends only' or to the 'public' .. (haha smiley)"
You will not change to 14 or 15 anymore. It's now your real age and privacy. Thanks tom!

you have to change your age to 15 or under.

but they got rid of the Make Profile Private feature a while ago.

By claiming you're younger than you are - you are risking getting your account deleted (read their terms of use). Just a thought ;-)
I believe they have an option to set your Profile to Private without changing your age. You're better off asking them.
Good luck!

Login and click:
Account Settings>Privacy Settings>
This will actually setup some privacy settings, not perfect but at least allows people stop bugging you that you don't want to bug you.

Under your personal options you can request that only your friends be able to see your page, and others have to be added before they can view.
