That varies quite a bit based on about a million factors. Find good hernia repair Dr or two and call the office and ask. Be honest with the fact you are paying out of pocket and need to know up front what the costs would be. Also know that many places will let you do payments see if that is an option.
Most surgery is really expensive if it can't be done in a Dr. office- and hernia repair is an Hospital trip. Be sure to think about the fact you will need time off work as well.
