No reason in the world why not. Just find the right woman for the job. To be honest I think the first woman president of the US will be a woman like Thacher. She has to be tough but pleasant, a statesman and conservative. If, and that is a big if, at this point Hillary does make it to the nomination for President for the Democrats. I'll be doing everything I can to work for her to become President. That is just my opinion on the issue, I do think she has about 90% of what is needed. The GOP is still playing the Good Ol' Boy network and it is destroying the US. So, yes it is time to consider the qualifications and not the gender.

A woman can be President of the United States. Women have equal rights as applies to equal opportunity; not equal outcome.

A woman can. There just hasn't been one yet.

Nothing in the Constitution limits the office to males only. And no law that did would survive constitutional scrutiny.

The issue is social prejudice, gender-based bias and expectation. Running for president nowadays is a popularity contest, and it may be difficult for a woman to satisfy the two requirements of being a strong leader while still conforming to 'traditional' gender roles. It's not a matter of legality, it's a matter of popularity.

A woman most certainly could be president of the USA. One ran a couple of years back for vice-president, but wasn't elected. Still, it's a start. All that has to happen now is for a strong, intelligent woman to get the backing of her party and get elected. I know Hilary Clinton wants to be the first female president, and it looks like Condaleeza Rice also wants to be in the running.

Legally they most certainly can be President. The only restrictions on who can be president are that they must be born citizens of the US and must be at least 35 years old. Practically, a woman can still be president......but the number that can be argued as being "qualified" for the position is a very small number.

she could! But i personaly dont want one to be,and guess what im a women.Guess what eles,i love being a women, and i sure dont want the role of a man.And if i had to chose one it sure wouldnt be Hill clit.Thats for sure.Equal rights? How about equl rights for children, born and unborn? How about the elderly, why dont they have equal rights. As far as women go,we do have equl rights,so much so that we treat men as stupid these days.We try so hard for so called equal rights that we try and lord over them. Our sit coms on tv demorallize them couse them to look foolish incapable dumbed down uninportent and unneeeded.Get over yourself.Stop being so self centered, theres more importent issues in life.Like who is a president who looks after his sheep with their best intrest at heart not his own. There is no perfect president there will always be some one who will disagree wth them and disrespect our pressident no matter man ,women or a bi.Our president that we have now sure is doing a better job then Mr clint could ever dream of doing.Let me see you give it a try!Im sure youd fail some how some way.In my oppion the only person that is fully capable is Jesus! He the only perfect one He sure gets my vote.

There's no legal reason why a woman can't be president of the USA. Do you remember in 2000 when Elizabeth Dole ran for the Republican nomination? But people say that American's aren't ready for a woman president...I guess old habits die hard.

I did not know that there is anything preventing a woman from becoming the President of the United States. I would vote for Hillary Clinton if she runs.

I am a guy and I'm not the biggest fan of women right now, but realising what they are capable of, a woman can definitely be president, but you have to convince the right wing conservatives who think a woman's place is to serve her man.

You do have equal rights. How many votes did you get on the last election? See? No one wants you. They wanted a choice between 2 guys.
