And do you actually believe that they hold true in every situation?

The biggest stereotype I have is the assumption that all gay men are good with fashion and accessories. This is because one of my guy friends is incredible with fashion advice and is fun to go shopping with. However I am not stupid enough to believe every gay man is like that.

Most people see gay men as effeminate men acting like girls. Unfortunately, this stereotype is reinforced by the media and by much of the gay population, particularly in large cities where gay "ghettos" tend to form. In order to feel like they are among their own kind, they perpetuate what they refer to as a gay "culture" which consists primarily of affectations.

The stereotypes do not hold true in every situation. Gay men come have all types of personalities, just like straight men.

A sterotype of gay men is that they all are very "girly" and weak. That they like to dress up in women's clothes and talk all wimsy like, flaring everywhere they go. And no, I do not believe this stereotype or any of the others about different stuff.

Sterotypes are untrue. They try to clump everyone together and living things are much too complex for that.

Although I do happen to know a gay guy that is such a flare, he's quite nice and funny too. One of a kind.

For every stereotype there is someone who is outside of it, so they do not hold true in every situation. That is like saying every black man is a gangster or that all Latinos are drug dealers, it's wrong to believe that every gay man can shop. Or that they can match their clothing and design their own home, not everyone is like the people on television. There are plenty of gay men that live like slobs, that wear two different colored socks, that don't flap their wrists and (sorry) act like girls.

Well, one stereotype is that they have better fashion sense than non-gay men. I've personally found this one to be true ... but only among gay men who are "out of the closet." I would imagine the in-closet gay men probably dress pretty much like straight men, because they wouldn't necessarily be trying to attract other gay men! LOL

Instead, let's see who homosexuals really are:

Automechanics, race car drivers, peace officers, priests (the non-molesting types), firemen/women, teachers, waiters, coaches, senators, football players, rugby players, construction workers (other than the one in the village people), musicians, drug dealers, actors, actresses, directors, video store clerks, leather and adult book store clerks, porn actors/actresses, hippies, emos, goths, rockers, florists, skinheads, black, white, yellow, red, halfies, innies, outies, cut and uncut, fat, thin, tall, stocky, weird, hairy, shaved, muscular, hung, average, not hung, whitty, unstable, rocket scientists, conquerers, ...and the list goes on. You get the idea.

So, whatever stereotype you can think of, just remember what a stereotype is: a preconceived notion about a person or group that is not necessarily true.

Whenever you don't think of a stereotype, you NEVER know who actually IS gay until they tell you -or unless it's obvious.

the only stereotype i associate with gay men is the preference of having a hot dog instead of a couple of melons for a pleasing meal.

I don't like to stereotype anyone, so I try not to judge any homosexual or lesbian person. My best friend is homosexual and I happen to be bisexual, so there is no way I am in the right position to judge anyone. The only stereotype I have heard against them, comes from my mom. She has said to me several times, that homosexuals and lesbians tend to stalk and harass people when they like them or want to date them. Also I have heard from other people that homosexuals are child molesters. Those are the most stupid things I have ever heard in my life.

I'm a gay woman, so I know better than to stereotype them. I would much rather choose to spend my time with gay men than hetero men because gay guys ONLY want your friendship and they don't come on to your wife.
I LOVE GAY MEN.

Every gay man I have ever known:
Acts ultra-feminine
Has a BIG ego
Is a sl*t
Tries to get the straight man to have sex with him
Thinks he knows more about women than women do
I don't know why they act like this, I would think that if you wanted to be gay, with a man...you would act like a man?!
