So, you know him on a first name basis? Then you know one of the game's best fielders and hitters. Definitely he should be in right field for the all star game.

I would have to say Ichiro is playing like the best right fielder in the AL this season.
Defensively, Ichiro is perhaps the best out fielder in baseball. He is definately better than Vlad, at least.
Offensively, Ichiro is outperforming Vlad as well. Let's take a look at the numbers. Ichiro's OBP is .413 and Vlad's is at a career low .342. Ichiro's OPS (on-base+slugging%) is actually higher than Vlads as well, .877 to .859.
Although I believe Ichiro is the better right fielder, I still did vote for both Ichiro and Vlad and would have to say that an OF of Manny in LF, Ichiro in CF, and Vlad in RF would be best. Vernon Wells must also be considered one of the top out fielders right now, as he is actually outperforming all the players who will likely be voted into the AL All-Star teams OF.

Also, Vlad does NOT have 11 assists. He has 5. Alfonso Soriano leads outfielders with 10 assists (so I guess that shows that assists don't make you the best outfielder). Saying Vlad is the best fielding right fielder is wrong as well. He has a career Fielding % of .963 (.966 this season) and Ichiro's is .993 (.992 this season). Ichiro has won a gold glove in each of his 5 seasons and Vlad has none.

Vlad should not ever be in the outfield. He is like baby huey out there. Did you see his bonehead play against the Mariners two Friday's ago? Unfortunately, as a tremendous Angels' fan, this happens way too often. DH, or figure out how to let him play and only throw the ball (one of the best arms in baseball), but not have to catch it.
