if you already get the internet you should already be networked.
If you haven't enabled file and printer sharing on your network, run the network wizard and do so. oh and lynsys is way better and has built in firewalling and security software to set up your wireless so not everyone in area can steal bandwidth.

Hmm, Netgear isn't a bad wireless router, nor is Linksys. All routers will auto configure themselves for internet and network traffic from all connected pc's. What you need to do is set up windows for the networking. If you're running WinXP then go to Start/Control Panel/Network Connections (if you can't see an icon for network connections then click the link in the blue box up at the top left of the window that says "Switch to classic view"

Once there you should see an icon or a link "Network Setup Wizard" or something like setup network. Follow through the steps and make sure that you name the workgroup the same on all machines.

Then you can select which folders to share on the network. Right click on the folder or drive icon and select "Sharing and security"

Now once all that is done be sure to make your wireless network secure. If you don't know how then check the instructions that came with it or the website or you can call tech support and they can help you.

Does the desktop have a wireless card or adapter installed?
Were the drivers installed on the desktop for the wireless card or adapter?
Is the desktop configured the same way as the router (static or DHCP)?

These are some of the first things you should look for if you haven't already done so.

Netgear is a bad wireless router. Trade it in for a LinkSys which has autoconfiguration.
