Just because some in the mass media say that, it's not necessarily so. Dishonest Dan Rather types say that as an attack on Bush and his policies. We've been hated because of Bush, Clinton, Carter, Hollywood, on and on.
In the 70's the media said Nixon was the worst and the world hated us and Kissinger was the best thing since bread. All the Europeans I talked to said shoot Henry and put Nixon back in.
Bottom line...don't believe we are so hated.

...
Hey, what accent?

I wonder if the richest of people, who don't worry as much about tactfullness and treating other people with respect, are the types that end up travelling the world. The reason I wonder about this, is because it seems like I hear all the time about the 'loud, obnoxious Americans'. I'm sure there are some U.S. citizens travelling abroad, but I guess they don't get noticed as much as the loud ones do.

because we killed indians took their land, and then killed mexicans, to take their land, and then have the audacity to call ourselves americans even though we know our ancestors were from another country. on top of that we say to people that have almost been here just as long as us (just not legally) that they have to go back to their own country, because they are taking our jobs, driving the crime rate up, and not living here legally. its stupid! i mean, i can understand their point of view, but on what planet should they be totally right? nevermind that when we do kick out all the mexicans, strawberries are going to be $20 for a pound, because nobody’s going to want to pick strawberries for under minimum wage, along with a bunch of other problems, most of which are much bigger than expensive strawberries.

you know? some people don’t see what’s standing right in front of them.

actually its not just we highjacked a country and made it our own. its that we do things without asking other people, we invade other countries even though the United Nations (which we started by the way) just told us not to. but we do it anyway, because bush couldn’t make up nearly as much of the new words he does otherwise. and they couldn’t shove anything up sadam's butt like they're doing now.

among other things, we like to eat until we gorge ourselves, (buffets, all-you-can-eat restaurants) and then whine and complain because there’s this big "obesity epidemic" going on. WE DID IT TO OURSELVES!!!! WHY CANT WE SEE THIS???

i don’t get it. i just don’t.

americans have a really funny way of looking at everything. no matter what it is, they're always right.

ok. i'm done ranting and raving about what many people consider to be nothing. you have a nice day, please drive thru.

LoL because we are too arrogant and ignorant. And we basically rule everything. But all good things must come to an end i suppose.....so to all foreigners take comfort in that.

But on the other hand, that is just an insulting generalization because people have minds of their own and can decide for themselves whether or not they love or hate a particular person, unbiased on where they are from.

Because of the United States government wants to control the world. If they don't want to be helped leave them be and use all of that war money on fixing your own country. To many people are out of jobs, on welfare, etc and the government uses billions on wars.

Because the world is ignorant just like we are. They hate our government, not that I blame them, our government is making America bad.

Our politics blinds the world from our freedom. This truely is a great country, too bad no one can see the potential it contains.

in world politics the u.s. only gets involved when there is a profit to be made.

We can be quite loud. We are very ethnocentric. We don't know much about other parts of the world compared to someone from most other countries.
