or it would narrow their vision and make it easier to focus on the thing they're looking at (since they are only looking at the one thing now).

Don't be silly. We see clearly when the image we're viewing is focused on the back of our eyes--the retina. Squinting actually aids the focus because it causes the light rays to focus on the retina. As I child I went to view the original Poseidon Adventure and forgot my glasses at home. I was able to view the movie clearlly by watching it thru a hole in my wristband--which has the same effect as squinting.

No. When you squint, you kind of contract the muscles attached to your retina, thereby moving the retina and forward so the images from distant objects that normally converges just before ur retina, now falls on ur retina, and giving U a better focus.
Big eye-balled people do not see better than thin eyed people.

What people are trying to do when they squint is to focus there eyes on a single thing. It helps but not that well.

Yes, but, squinting your eyes concentrates the light. The more light the better the vision.

Squinting your eyes in bright light limits the amount of light hitting the pupil, while doing so in darker conditions focuses the corneas better. :) Hope that helps... Good luck!!

If you're nearsighted, it makes it easier (if dimmer) to see. It's the same principle as a pinhole camera, which has no lens to focus, just a small hole. If you cover your eyes with your hands, and look through a tiny hole between your fingers, you can get away with not using glasses
