People have pets for different reasons. Some people have a watch dog. Some people have show animals that they get satisfaction of winning with. People like me have pets for no other reason than they are so easy to love, they ask for very little and give more than you could ever ask for. Their love is unconditional. Even when treated badly they can still be loyal and faithful. There is no place else you can get so much for so little

Well for those of us who love animals we have pets because they make us happy. They make us smile and laugh at their silly antics and they make us feel loved and cared for when we feel alone or sad. They cheer us up when we are sad, never talk back to us, never hit us or hurt us emotionally. It is believed they give the elderly back their lives in their own special way's by being there for them. They make wonderful therapy pets for not only the elderly but the disabled who with out them would forever be dependent on others. Of course they can also make us sad; sad when we loose them because they were our best friend and companion for years. Sad when they are sick or hurt and we can't help them because everything that could be done was done.

So you see, those of us who love animals keep them because we love them and they in turn love us unconditionally.

However then there are those who only have pets so they can abuse them, use them to fight each other, kill each other etc. They use them for their own personal sick experiments (I'm not talking about the medical labs etc that use certain types of animals to test medicines and products although I don't fully agree in it; with out their help many medications would never have been discovered. Though from what I know 90% of them use rats and mice and not dogs or cats etc due to humanitarian issues etc.)

To me, pets just make you happy to be alive, especially when your sad or depressed.

Pets give love and acceptance to all family members. You learn to love and care for them. When you have had a bad day, the pet makes us smile. A pet is part of your family.

Companionship and unconditional love for many people. They keep us company and are not judgmental.

I think other people keep pets for a "hobby" like showing dogs, horses or rabbits. But, I think a true pet is kept to give us love.

they make us feel good. people with animals are happier. I had seven cats, 2 dogs, 2 birds, and some fish. I could never say no to a stray animal. I loved each of them very much.

Cheaper and quieter and more affectionate than a wife that's now an ex-wife. Doesn't eat as much either.
