None as has been pointed out you are thinking of BISON which people call Buffalo. Actually to the first poster the White man DID kill most of them off. The Native Americans DID hunt them but did it for food. They didn't just see how many they could kill in a day like Europeans.

The Great North American Bison / now called Buffalo. And there were thousands before the Buffalo hunter came along.

None, Buffalo do not live in North America. However, American Bison did, and there were two main catagories

Woods bison was and still found up in canada and the plains were found and still foundon the plains.
And the eastern forest bison was found from new york to fla to the mississippi
