Man! I hate chiggers. I went fishing and both legs were covered in chigger bites. I tried the nail polish and that absolutely did not work for me. When you use polish to smother them, they burrow further. What I finally did was, I know this is gross, but I got a neddle and started opening the bites and squeezing them out. Be sure that you get UNDERNEATH. That was years ago and unless you have a high tolerance for pain I would grab a bottle of Tequila as well. For mosquito and wasp bites/stings, ammonia bleach works if put on quickly after bite. I would try that first. Also, Benadryl is an antihistamine. Chiggers itch because they are burrowing underneath the skin's surface, not becasue they are releasing histamine. Thankfully, I have not had chigger bites in close to 20 years. Good luck to you. Sleep as much as you can so that you don't know that you are itching.

Nothing much for immediate relief but if you put nail polish over the area it will suffocate them. Good luck.I had them yrs ago and was covered on my entire right side before I knew to put nail polish on the area. UPDATE: I've seen some of the answers.Nothing topical will work other than nail polish. Chiggers are tiny spiders that burrow under the skin, lay eggs and continue the cycle. They WILL spread if not killed. The only way is to suffocate them.

okay listen to me: i had chigger bites that lasted 7 months because i itched them so much. DO NOT ITCH THEM. its actually a myth that chiggers burrow into your skin its actually just the little mouth that gets stuck inside ya. i tried everything (listerine, clear nail polish, etc) and none of it worked. basically what you have to do is just squeeze them until all the clear puss-like stuff is out of the bump. i know thats really gross and it kinda hurts but it takes them sooo long to heal if you dont do it. trust me dude just squeeze em

clear nail polish works wonders. I know from personal experience. The polish sufficates the chigger, and the itch stops.

There's a product called After-Bite that is meant to stop the pain and itching. I know it's everywhere, but I saw it in Bed Bath & Beyond, yesterday. I THINK the main ingredient was ammonia. (!) But it works. It looks like a pen.

USE LISTERINE (make sure that it is the green Listerine) I'm literally using it right now on my feet and legs. Just take a cotton ball/pad and put it over the hole then tip the bottle over for a quick second. Enough to get it wet. Then apply to the bites. It smells good and it works for a couple of hours or till you scratch it again. I hope i helped! :)

You are gonna laugh but I swear it works. Take you thumb nail and make an X in each bite, then wet a bar of soap and rub over them. Just let the soap dry on them, don't rinse it off.
