Hello,

I have also tried proactiv. I've been using it for years now and it doesn't work. I think you should go see a dermatologist. Have you heard of accutane? it's a drug that suppose to clear your skin. It has serious side effects, so I think you should think twice about taking it. Your dermatologist will discuss everything to you and I think put you on it for 6 months. It depends on how bad your skin is I think. In 2003 I was on this drug for 6 months, but I had no success with it. It doesn't work for everyone, so if you take this drug and 2 or 3 months later you see no results I recommend you stop takng it, because it's a very strong pill and it could damage your body. I think every person who takes this drug gets dry lips and maybe a little of depression. I think there's another option if you don't want to take this drug. I think Laser surgery should clear your skin. It cost alot, but it really works. I know a good Dr. here in Southern California who could treat your skin with lasers. I've seen some before and after pictures and it was amazing. If nothing hasn't worked for you yet like me then you should try one of the two answers I gave you. Goodluck

I have tried everything! I started in high school and used various products and prescriptions and then I gave up. I thought in time it would just go away, it did improve over the years, but it did not go away. Bout two years ago (after college) I started using proactive. As many of my friends there were some results in the beginning and then nothing. So I went to dermatologist, many of the prescriptions worked in the beginning only then nothing. I am finally am on Accutane (isotretinoin). There are side effects and this product may not be for you. However, so far it had been awesome! I am not done with the entire treatment, but results are amazing thus far.

Ahhh... I remember when I tried ProActiv... worked for about 2 weeks and then my skin built up a tolerance. Anyhow, I am on Acutane and it is really doing the trick. I was on it for 6 months and the FDA made new rules... I had to jump through a bunch of hoops to get back on it. I assure you, it is worth the hassle. If you have gone to your primary doctor and they keep giving you creams or antibiotics, INSIST that they refer you to a dermatologist!

Maybe you should talk to your mother and ask her about Ortho TriCylene. Sometimes if an acne medication isn't working it is hormonal. Birth control can help. But I am not suggesting you use it for anything other than your acne you understand. I am sorry about the pro activ. My girls use pro activ and their acne cleared up in about two weeks.

Trust me on this one, make a paste of baking soda and water and apply before bed. Wash off in the moring. I've been doing hair, makeup and nails for years and this home remedy ALWAYS works! Good luck.

I was going to say pro active but....oh well. For me that was the only thing that worked.

Could you have pcos? That causes hormonal breakouts.

See your doctor. There may be an underlying issue or you may need a referral to a dermatologist for something prescription.

ProActiv isn't working? I find that tough to believe. You may need to see a dermatologist.

Try Acutane. You have to go to Dermatologist and get a script, but it works.
