I'm NOT A FURRY, but I am currently working on a novel where the characters are anthropomorphic ( humanized ) animals, and I'm worried that the audience will respond negatively, considering the fact they may associate it with "Furries" ( which I know you all hate ). Do you think this will be too much of a problem? Or will it go unoticed? Being a cartoonist, animal characters are something I use often, but these days people tend to have something against them. :( Just want your opinions.

ps: If you don't know what a "Furry" is, don't bother answering.

The success of a character is based on the quality of the drawing and the equal quality of the novel.
You definitely need a good text and good drawing skills!
If both are OK then the audience will react positively since the real thing that matters is the final result!
(I think that not all people hate "furries"!)

Oh for goodness sakes, people who read novels about anthropomorphised animals only associate them with furries if they are familiar with the fetish themselves. I don't think all that many people even know what furries are! There is so much literature with animal characters, ie Orwell's Animal Farm, Black Beauty, Winnie the Pooh... I've never thought of any of these as sexual creatures. I think you're creating a problem where there isn't one.

BTW, Not everyone hates furries... I'm not a furry but I respect other peoples tastes and being a furry doesn't hurt anyone so I don't judge. I like furries just like I like transvestites and transgendered and foot fetish people - for their personalities, not their sexual identities.
