I have some questions about tanning beds.

1. What do you wear when you go to one?
2. Do they close it or do they let it stay open?
3. How old are you supposed to be?
4. How much does it cost?
5. What's a standing tan? How does it work?

Anyone who answers all these questions for me will definately receive 10 points!

1. Tanning lotion and protective eyewear.
2. You close it yourself.
3. That depends on which state you live in; In Louisiana, you can tan at age 14 but your parent or guardian must arrive at the salon with you-not go in the room with you. Ages 15-17 must first have a parent or guardian sign a form allowing you to tan, but does not have to accompany you to the salon. Age 18 or over can sign and tan for themselves.
4. You can usually get at least one free visit from each salon you go to. There are different types of tanning beds, and I've seen a single visit be as low as $2.00 and up to $40.00. Usually, the best value is to purchase like a One Month tanning package that allows you to tan in a variety of types of tanning bed (Lay down beds and stand up booths) Again, this will vary depending on the state you live in.
5. I am assuming by "stand-up tan" that you mean a stand up tanning booth. I personally prefer to tan in a stand up tanning booth because they are usually faster than the lay down beds and they will give you a more even color on the sides of your body. When you go inside a stand-up tanning booth, you hold on to some straps to keep your arms up and the lights surround you. To make the time pass, you can re-apply your tanning lotion while you are standing there too.

1. I usually tan in the nude. You want to make sure the bed has been sanitized though. Not all places do that but they leave the cleaner in there for you. Some women have told me they tan in a thong or a bikini. It really depends if you want tan lines or not though and how safe you feel laying where another nude person has just been.

2. The bed/booth is closed so that your body is totally surrounded with light. The doors do not lock so its not that bad...(Trust me, I used to always check to make sure I could get out if i needed too. LOL )

3. I believe you have to be 16. Most places make a parent sign a consent form if you are under 18.

4. The cheapest place I have found is $38 for a month unlimited in any bed or booth and $48 for a month unlimited in the high power bed/booth.

5. A standing tan is where you are airbrushed with a bronzer. You usually stand there in only a thong It takes only a few minutes and the tan lasts about 2-3 weeks. I have heard that if you tan in the bed/booth after the spray tan it helps keep your color even better.

Hope this helps!

1. Whatever you want.
2. You close it after you get in.
3. You have to be 18 to sign up, but some salons will allow you at a younger age, with parental consent.
4. Depends on your salon. Figure $5-$10 a session
5. A standing tan is the same as any other tan - it lasts the same. The difference is that you stand up, so it hits parts of the body laying down might miss.

You sound very young, so remember that the damage you do by tanning is permanent and might not show up for 10 or 15 years. Consider spray tans or at home self tanners before resorting to something that can harm you like tanning. Good luck. : )

1. most people wear their swimsuit, maybe without straps so you dont get tan lines. if you wear your bra you might get weird lines. once you've been a few times, you could go naked but it really hurts if you burn your ***.
2. there's a small room you go into and lay in the bed and reach up and close it, but there is an opening all along the side so you're not actually closed in a box.
3. i went when i was 15, some places may require you to be 16 if you dont have a parent with you. but it doesnt really matter how old you are.
4. from like $4 to $8, some places give student discounts. also you can do a monthly plan.
5. a standing tan is when you go in a booth and get spray-on tan. sometimes people press a button and the spray goes on your body and sometimes you have to use a sprayer yourself. you cant shower or sweat a lot for a day or so (they'll tell you at the tanning place) but it looks really good. make sure your cuticles dont have to much on them and check your elbows and knees for dark spots.

whoa....... 1. you'll probably get a change after one visit, just make sure you don't go in too long and get burnt! 2. I would say around 5-7 visits depending on the strength of the bulbs at the tanner you're going to. 3. Tanning beds give you a comparable tan. 4. I would always tan in the sun if I had time! You can always do both. 5. Tans from a bed last a while once you have been regularly going I would say about a week before you are going back to normal. 6. Nothing really happens after you tan in either place except that it eventually will wear off or if you get burnt it will peel off. Thats why you have to go fairly regularly and for appropriate amounts of time.

1) i wear a bikini--i don't wanna go nude, because some areas are a lil more, uh, sensitive and i don't want a rash or anything.
2)i'm not sure what you mean, but i'll try to answer it as best as i can... you go into a lil room and you shut and lock the door, then you get into the bed and u pull the top part of it down (it never shuts all the way so you have like a lil window thing and u can have it as high or as low as you want it. and you can always get out any time u want.
3) the legal age to go without a parents consent is 16 years.
4) i get the unlimited monthly tanning, which costs $60. and you can go as much as you want for 1 month. but then there's the cost of the goggles, which are usually like 3 dollars and then you hafta buy the lotion which, for a big bottle, is around $50.
5) a stand-up, is like a bed, only you stand. i've never tried it, but supposadly it gives you a more even tan, but the ppl that i talked to at the salon said that i should use a bed because stand-ups are usually harsher.
HOPE THIS HELPED!!!! I kno how hard it is to find info about tanning salons without getting all the nasty answers from ppl who say that u shouldn't go to one.
:-) good luck.

I have worked at a tanning salon for over 3 years so I can answer your question for you.......... You can wear your under clothes, bathing suit or just go naked. The top of the tanning beds closes over you. If you are under the age of 18 you will need a parents signature to tan, anyone and I believe anyone under the age of 14 woulod need a doctors note to tan ( the rules have just changed on that age) Check your local tanning salon. As for cost the average is around 5.00 for 20 minutes. The stand up bed is just what it says yiu stand up and tan and the bed closes around you, these beds are usually around 8 to 12 minutes. I hope I answered you questions have a great day!

1> a bikini the best
2> the let it open just a bit for air to come in(you wont suffocate I promise)
3> 16 or over( if your under that age, go with a parent)
4> it depends on how much part of the body you wanna get done( $25-$50) somewhere
5> a standing tan is a room like a shower, you stand in there, and they use a machine to spray. you gotta wear the glasses they provide you to protect your eyes. you get a great and even tan for the standing one ( $25-$60) per tan. depends on the range of your body type.

1. Nothing, if you want. Good tanning salons will wash down each bed after each use, and disinfect it, and give you clean towels and eye protection, also.
2. Beds need to be closed.
3. 16, i think
4. Depends on the salon and the type of bed you use. Regular beds that you lay in are around $5.00 per session.
5. Standing tans can either be a spray-on sunless tanner, or there are standing light beds. Both are usually more expensive than normal beds in which you lay down.
