I have twin boys 4 months old. One was circumcised two days after birth and the other was circumcised a month later due to complications. The doc that circumcised in the hospital was a woman and she went over everything with me when I signed the consent form. She explained to me exactly what was going to take place and that with the nerve block and that most don't even whimper. When they brought him back to me he was completely circumcised and altho red had a perfect circumcision with the head completely uncovered and incision about a fourth inch behind the crown.
My other was circumcised by a different doctor, and when they brought him out to me explained that he had a little plastic cap tied on his penis and that it would fall off by itself in about a week or so.
It did with no complications. My question is why does he have so much more skin around the head. Almost half the head is covered. My other sons is laid way back off the head. Is one of these not normal?

I think it is normal. I have 3 boys 13, 7 and 4 they all look different. My oldest is the "baldest", with my second son i took him back and asked the dr (our ped. didn't circumcise him, it was at the hosp) and she said it looked really good. That they try to leave more skin these days and sex will be more enjoyable for him (at the app. age of course). My 3rd son had the cap thing (which i had never seen) and his "left" skin is in between the other 2. I wouldn't take your son back and have it redone unless their doctor says something is wrong. In fact if I had not got my 1st son circ. I would not have got the others done. I didn't want any of them to think something was wrong because they looked different. Congrats on the twins!!!

Say no to circumcision. The sexual damage caused by circumcision is undeniable, only the ignorant argue that circumcision is not mutilation. I was circumcised as an infant and I absolutely hate it with a passion. The head of my penis is so dried up and desensitized that it can't feel anything at all, not even an ice pack. I confronted my own parents about this and they're still struggling to accept their mistake. Remember that no medical organization in the world, not even America or Israel recommend routine infant circumcision; in other words, the debatable health benefits aren't worth it. Also remember that circumcision fell out of practice in all of the English-speaking countries except the United States (where it's in decline). If they get circumcised, not only will they probably be in the minority among their peers, but they are very likely to learn about the downsides to circumcision sooner or later. If religion is involved, just remind them all that no decent god worth their worship would be interested in the shape of any male's penis. Don't forget that they can always have it done in the future if they don't like their foreskins, they can have them removed when they're old enough to fully understand the issue. If they get it done now, they'll never get it back. There is such a thing as foreskin restoration, but it doesn't undo all of the damage circumcision causes. Please, don't ever let anyone talk you into doing something you know for a fact is wrong. Not just on this issue, but in the future as well. Your sons need you to protect them. How to convince them? Tell your girlfriend and her parents the truth about circumcision. Have no fear and don't make apologies, speak your mind.

I have three sons and all were circumcised. The two oldest were circumcised with scissors. I know because I asked the ped. what method they used. How it was done, pain, healing etc. When they brought them back to me after wards the first thing I did was to open the diaper and examine their penis. Their circumcisions turned out beautiful and bald after the healing process. My youngest had the plastic cap method that I was not familiar with and you're right, it left a lot more skin than on my other two. If I had known they were going to use that cap thing I would have refused and gotten him circumcised somewhere else.
And as far as pain, It didn't seem to bother any one of them and at least now their all circumcised.

My son had to be done twice. The first time at 7 days after birth, when he went back in for the re- check the Dr. said it was not enough and he had to be reone. He still has a lot of forskin that covers about half the penis head. The Dr told me it's better to have to much than not enough. I figured he's a guy, he should know. My husband totally agreed with him. The important thing to remember is to pull the skin back at bath time an wash that area good, or he will get a yeast infection. If you are concerned, he can get a second one done to take off the extra.

I don't know if your other son's circumcision is not normal, but my son's was made with the plastic cap you described and it did fell off itself... If you have doubts, ask the other doctor, just to compare with a second opinion.

take him to the doctor if you are not sure, you can always get second opinions. and yes though it is scary sometimes doctors don't perform the circumsisions correctly and he may have extra skin left over. But also remember that every penis is different and though they are twins they will have differences.
