I'm from San Bruno and I want to live in a nice part of the city that I won't have to worry too much about my safety...I mean any more than a regular person would. Like I don't want to live in the tenderloins or anything.

What is your budget? Upper Mission/Castro/Noe Valley. If you have more money, the Marina and Cow Hollow have lots of young singles. The Sunset and Richmond are both very safe and cheaper, howver unless you are in the Inner sections of both those neighborhoods, you may die from bordem or get lost in the fog. Some parts of the "Tendernob" are okay--I may not venture too far south of Pine Street.

Stay away from the tenderloin as you mentioned, also bayview hunters point, the mission (it's safer than its reputation implies, but there are still gangs there), and the western addition. That leaves tons of possibilities, pacific heights, marina, soma, castro, richmond, ingleside, noe valley, sunset to name just a few.

I live in lower Nob Hill right above the tenderloin and it is the BEST - I love it! And it's safe too. Also, I know that North Beach and Russian Hill are cool, safe areas too.

Inner Sunset and cole valley are great areas, and very close to eachother. There are alot of good restaurants, shops, near hospital, golden gate park... The train is also nearby to go downtown (20 min.). Its very safe too. I can't think of a better area!! You should definitely check it out. :-)
