Yes I celebrate Juneteenth. I'm in California. People celebrate it everywhere African Americans live, especially those who migrated from the South.
For those who don't know what Juneteenth is, it is an African American celebration of being free. After the Emancipation Proclamation, it took a very long time for all former slaves to actually find out they were free.
Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day or Emancipation Day, is an annual holiday in some states of the United States. Celebrated on June 19, it commemorates the announcement of the abolition of slavery in Texas. The holiday originated in Galveston, Texas; for more than a century, the state of Texas was the primary home of Juneteenth celebrations. Since 1980, Juneteenth has been an official state holiday in Texas. More recently, however, its observance has spread across the nation and are even taking place in other countries. Juneteenth is also the title of an unfinished Ralph Ellison work that he intended to be the Great American Novel--greater than his most acclaimed work, Invisible Man. He died before finishing it, and it was put together in pieces by compilers.
I celebrate Juneteenth and I'm a Texas white boy.

I celebrate the emancipation of slaves in the United States of America.
Freedom is a wonderful thing.
I cherish my freedoms.
June 19th should be celebrated by everyone that knows freedom.
Maybe this day would be a good day to also think about the men, women and children who are still in bondage, worldwide.
There should also be a day where we celebrate the emanciptation of all slaves, if that day ever comes.
check this site it explains this better then I ever could.

It's a Texan tradition because it signifies the day the Texas slaves got word of the Emancipation Proclamation. And no, I don't personally celebrate it but know many who do.
