First of all if you havent already bought one I suggest you seriously think about a rat instead. Hamsters are not as sociable as you may think and tend to bite quite often. They dont really care to be held much either. Rats on the other hand( when kept alone, without other rats) are very sociable and love to be held and played with. They are also very smart and easy to train. Either way you go( Rat or Hamster) you do not need a litter pan. They will not use it. Small rodents generally pick a section of cage and go there whether you want them to or not. Just change the bedding often and your pet will be healthy and happy.

No, Hamsters will pick a spot in their cage to go. Shavings is nice to help controll the odor. A ball , to put them in or a wheel to exercise is nice. Wheels placed in cages will keep you up at night because they play at night and sleep during the day.
I owned a pet store a few years back, they have such neat things for your pets now. Get what makes you and your pet happy as long as you're together that the most important thing.

Hamsters don't use litter pans. They poop all over the cage. They are not like rabbits and go in certain spots.

Maybe. It might be a little easier for you. A excercise wheel too. And a shelter to sleep in. (shavings are quite useful) I recomend a water bottle and not a bowl. A bowl for food.
