As long as people and groups of people strive to be different and are recognized for differences, we will never be equal. In essence, people cannot be different but equal. Now, the question is, if we were to break down all differences in the name of equality so that we'd all be the same, would we still be human?

Equal in what respect? Equal that we can all go out and train for the same job and some of us get picked and others don't. Equal in the way that some of us work hard and others of us don't? Or for that matter equal in the way we all converse? or the way in which we communicate? I have watched people succeed in life without so much as a second thought. And I have watched some struggle to accomplish the simplest of tasks. All I can say is that we are definately all human. We are definately all free to think what we want. But there are very few matters or issues that we could consider two different people to be equal on. Yes we are believers in equality... as stated by more than a few who have already posted. We are equal in one thing and one thing only. We are all people and we are all human. Take that away and none of us amount to anything.
Wish I could have written on a little more of a specific question but I hope my answer gives incite on the meaning of equal. The only thing I know for sure is that 1 is equal to 1. if people are numbers then sure the worlds equal.... But I don't think that we are numbers. and nothing is equal when it comes to philosophy and understanding. Thanks for listening to me.

I believe all people are equal. But socieities today, do not believe so. I believe all people SHOULD be equal, and that there shouldn't be any questions raised against people who aren't supposedly equal. There's just some people in the world, that are small minded, and that they don't realize that each and every person is the same, but just different by their skin tone. You can have the hip hop person from the black community and a hip hop person from a caucasian community or an asian community, you have can a punk from a black community or a caucasian or asian community, we're all the same, and we all share the same interests, so why is there a big deal and fuss as well as the act of inequality being stressed towards different races. I see everybody as the same. In gods eyes we are all equal, if people say they praise god like they do, and they wish to become one with god, then practice his doings.

The whole concept of equality has one main flaw. The confusion arises because people do not know the difference between prejudice and discrimination. There is nothing wrong with discrimination (people are different ,after all). The sin is to make judgements about people based on those visible differences---That is prejudice (pre-judgement).Prejudice is a big mistake and wrong!

I believe that all people should be TREATED equally, but not all people are equal. Some are smarter than others, richer than others, better looking than others, so they are not equal, but should be treated as equals because it is unfair, and not really their fault that they are at a disadvantage.

Ummm! No!
People are judged by what they have done and can do!
All people are born with an opportunity. Maybe you measure if they're equal if they've an equal amount of money, maybe you measure it in happiness, maybe it's measured in where you're on the "Social Ladder"

Short and Simple Answer: No!

I think everyone should have the opportunity to be equal. Not everyone conducts themselves in a way that entitles them to be treated equal.
