I'm paying $4 per load, seems expensive

I used to pay .75 cents to wash and .50 cents to dry and the laundy people who collected the money at the apartment where I lived tried to raise it, so of course, I collected names to complain and they left it the same.
I actually befriended a really nice elderly lady, who had a clothesline pole and she let me dry my clothes on her clothesline for free. I was soooooo poor back then with 2 little kids and no job.
