According to Nielsen Media Research, 5.833 million more people watched the Deal or No Deal season finale than Game 2 of the NBA Finals. If this is true, which it is Howie Mandel (i am sure everybody knows him, since he is the star of last week's highest rated show) should make more than Shaq for his 5 point game (and since 6 million less people watched game 2) let me tell you who he is. Shaq (Shaquille O'Neal) is the center for the Miami Heat and signed a five-year 100 million dollar contract. Does something not make sense to you. Shaq and Dwayne have talent and get paid millions more than Howie, so why does America prefer to watch Deal or No Deal. This is a serious statement and it has not gotten enough press. Can someone please attempt at explaining the sanity behind this.

Because no one except a few people really care about basketball anymore. The reason salaries are so high is tv contracts, which will probably be lower next time since they are based on ratings. Until basketball cleans up its act, and game, ratings will continue to fall.

Very Simple answer. First off the refs call games different for different players more than any other sport. Second I believe that watching 10 black guys getting paid millions to dribble a ball does not intrest most. These guys get busted for guns, pot, rape, etc and nothing happens. Get some diversity in the sport. They always ***** cause they have no head coaching jobs but take 98% of the players job.Keeps me from watching like I use to. For sure when our troops are in harms way making $15,000 so these morons can do as they do and never say anything to the troops.

rankings are an promoting benchmark. that's what it ability. The NBA receives maximum of their money from the television networks. If the rankings bypass down, the networks are going to grant a lot less money to the game in the adventure that they prefer to air this methodology in any respect. this suggests the gamers are going to be paid a lot less. Basketball isn't the in reality interest to bashed. the recent hockey playoffs did worse than the WWE Smackdown rankings (human beings would somewhat watch a not straight forward and quickly interest somewhat than a authentic one) and Monday evening football, once feared in the rankings, has been solid off to ESPN to end off the contract that fee ABC thousands and thousands yet did no longer have sufficient visitors to justify the fee.

NBA is on too late (here in the east). Just like the world series, they're forgetting about the kids and working folk who can't stay up until Midnite, and especially when the last 3 minutes takes an hour to play!
Deal/No Deal in primetime, and altho his commercial breaks are annoying also, it's not as bad as the continual fouling at end of NBA game.

because people enjoy watching others win money. Just like they have that new show on tv now called windfall and its all about 20 friends who won the lottery. People are obsessed with money and they like to live vicariously through tv winners. Plus, it's fun to guess the cases and the show has anticipation and suspense. Basketball is basketball. Not everyone enjoys watching it. I don't. It's just back and forth in my opinion. Football is the sport. Why else is the super bowl such a big television event? Basketball doesn't have the same amount of fanbase. Not because of who plays in the NBA, it's just the sport itself.

I don't know why most people do but for me I can't stand the squeaky shoe sound that you hear during all the basketball game. Also some of us just have our TVs on but aren't really watching them. I don't know who has those neilson boxes or how you get one but i think it must be all racist white old people and they don't watch basketball and can't get up to turn the dial on their old TV due to arthritis and things.
