Spybot Search & Destroy is the best spyware, malware and adware removal software I've used in repairing infected computers for the last 3 years. You may or maynot find suspicious listings in your Add/Remove programs list in control panel. Also almost all of the AntiVirus programs now are considered Internet Security. As a Computer Tech for the last 8 years I have used many, and found Trend Micro's PC-Cillin Internet Security 2006, you can download a free trial here: http://www.trendmicro.com/download/trial/trial-pcc.asp
Spybot Search & Destroy 1.4 here: http://spybot.safer-networking.de/en/index.html. Be sure to have your Internet connection enabled and choose to download all available updates upon installation.

Some weeks ago I had a problem with my computer, it was slowing down and i couldn't explain why some websites where redirecting! Since I had a good (norton) antivirus system I did not think that I had spyware! , however a friend of mine came to my house and immediately told me that I had a spyware program, he entered into a site downloaded one of the free programs featured there and installed it on my computer, after running this program my computer is fast and downloading normally, whilst my homepage was also restored.
the webpage where you can find free reliable anti spyware is:

You should just take it to the repair shop where they can remove the spyware from your complete system for around $35, depending on the area in which you live.
Also, you could try the Ad-Aware SE program, it is free and downloadable from the net.

Download spybot from the address below. Click download updates and make sure you have the latest of everything. Click search and destroy and Check for Problems.
It will not make chenges to anything unless you checkmark it for removal.

If you are a Yahoo member, you can download Yahoo anti-spy protection that comes with anti-spy,virus protection, pop up blocker and much more.
The program is from computer associates. It really does work and is very simple to download, all you have to do is go to protection on your start up page, and it will take you to it.

if you are running a windows OS:
1) try to start your computer in "safe mode" and then
2) reset your browser settings, then you can try to
3) avoid to execute the unwanted routine by deleting it from
thestartup (start-run-msconfig-startup).
4) try to uninstall it from "add/remove programs"
i had similar cases twice, and this was the way i have solved with success.
note: i don't use any security/antispy program ( i hate them)
hope that will work, good luck. :)
