I heard about this thing from a friend of mine called a multiverse. Does anyone think that there really are an infinite amount of other universes out there where things are different? My friend said that there is a different universe for every course of action. He told me that there is a multiverse of present where all of our actions accumulate. But he also said that there is a multivers, for instance, if i brushed my teeth this moring there would be a multivers in which i wouldnt, or a multiverse in which i would try to brush my teeth but inexplicitly burst into flames. I was just wondering if anyone could tell me their view of this strage idea?

Personally I don't reject the idea, but I don't exactly embrace it, either.

Let me pose this to you: If there are an infinite number of universes, and let's say, just for now, that there is a Divine Creator, did this ONE being create the infinite universes you describe? Or are there in infinite number of this Creator?

Next thought: If, for every action/thought/possibility there is a separate universe, on how many of them would you actually exist? On how many universes did life on Earth actually form (assuming evolution)?

Lastly: Take the statement that there are an infinite number of possibilities and that what we perceive from instant to instant is merely what we have CHOSEN to perceive at that instant, is there a separate universe created for each of those possibilities which are not perceived, or, because they aren't perceived (therefore not "real") do they fail to "launch" a separate universe?

If you haven't noticed, I find the ideas of possiblity incredibly fascinating.

I hope I didn't make your brain explode!

It's one of those incredibly stupid ideas that some really creative person thought up, that has also gotten way more attention than it deserves so it kind of sticks around longer than it should.

Why the hell would there have to be multiverses in order for the Universe to work? There doesn't, but there DOES have to be multiverses in order to solve the time travel paradoxes that have been wracking nerds' brains everywhere.

Time travel is another idea that continues to persist and probably always will because it is so simple an idea that EVERYBODY can understand it. To go back and do something right is probably something everyone everywhere has already thought up, but just like you can't unburn a match, you can't turn back time.

Maybe there's another Universe I can go to and do the right thing? It's a magical notion, but it's not the truth. One Universe, always moving forward, with or without you. It's perhaps possible to propel yourself into the future, but there'd be no going back.

There is indeed theories which propose that there is more than on universe. In one of the theories, there would be so many universes that another you existing becomes a statistical probability. In another theory, each deciscion not made by you is made by you in another universe.

I like to think that there's some universe somewhere where I won the lotto yesterday myself, and then there's another universe with a smarter me who's working to invent a device such that rich me, smart me, and me me can split the money.

Similar to the butterfly effect. In our world we made a movie of it. Take into consideration the Gaea hypothesis and the subliminal theory of what you see and how you think are two different things when others tell you how you should think because it is so. Remember, alternatives for your decisions will always be up to you, especially with the help of the metaclorians.

When looking at nature we see that everything revolves around something else, for example particles around the nucleus of an atom, clouds around a low pressure system or a planet around a star. If we look into space we see stars revolving around a black hole creating galaxies. So why can't universe revolve around other universes? If Nature repeats itself then this theory may hold to pattern.

Well.......
My friend.....you have hit one of the questions that go too far away from Astronomy and science and enter the field of Philosophy.
Unfortunatelly we have to follow the principal of setting an AXIOM in order to be able to continue the thesis. but the time and the space is too limited here so I 'll not go further.
I shall only remind you the "Thou shall not kill" of the "ten Commandments".
Consider that we accept that there is "COSMOS" MACROCOSMOS" and MIKROCOSMOS" ....
The rest depends on you how to start finding out the whole answer that you have set....:)
GOOD LUCK..:)

That is commonly referred to by us time travelers as "The Many Worlds Theory". There have been many documents written and posted on the subject. I'm sure you will find out More by looking it up.

If there was a multiverse, we couldn't get to it. So to us, it's pointless to even think about it.
