Is it normal for a woman to have a large amount of big clots during her period??

I'm really worried should I go to the hospital or something? This has never happened before. I'm 28 years old and been having periods for 15 years. And the cramping is so horrible, I can hardly do anything!!!!!

I wanted to ask here first before I go to the ER and get embarassed because they tell me it's normal.

I've already gone through a box of super plus tampax (20 pack) today alone.

You could have been pregnant and not known it.
Go to the hospital. This is not normal!

To go through an entire box of super-plus tampons in a single day is decidedly NOT normal...this sounds like what they call menorrhagia (or "flooding"), which is an excessively heavy period that may have any of a number of causes. Some clots are normal, but this description would NOT be normal, especially if it has never happened to you before. I would definitely NOT be too embarassed to go to the ER in this case, because it could be potentially dangerous due to the degree of blood loss.

If it's possible that you're pregnant, that's all the more reason to go have it checked out ASAP...these could be signs of a miscarriage.

Why would you get embarassed if you go to the ER and they tell you it's normal? The thing is, its not normal. Least not for you it isn't. You said right in your question you've been having periods for 15 years and that has never happened before. This is nothing to be embarassed about. You're just looking out for yourself.

It might be a couple things..

Could you have had a possible miscarriage?
Have you started taking any new medications?
Have you stopped taking any medications?
Maybe there's a hormone change in your body.

No one on Yahoo Answers can diagnose you, so if you're really worried, go and get it checked out.

Best of luck.

They see beautiful females with good-looking guys and wish the identical factor. They do not cut down their specifications simply considering the fact that they're much less gorgeous, as they will not. The identical query can also be requested closer to guys.

This doesn't sound very good. What would it hurt to see a doctor....after all it's not like they are in it to point out all the ones that were wrong in thinking they needed medical help.

It's really hard to say what is normal when it comes to our periods. I definately suggest going to your gyn for a check up. She may suggest getting on or changing your birth control.

Any chance you could be pregnant and miscarrying? If you don't have any other symptoms (lightheadedness, nausea, etc.) and don't think you have any chance of this being a miscarriage, then bring it up with your ob/gyn.
