I have never stayed at the Rode Way Inn myself but, did have friends that stayed there. There room was clean and neat also very small. The outside was ok nothing fancy, seem to have a young crowd . I have not stayed in a hotel myself in O.C in 15 years because my family own to condo there. I had family stay at the Flamingo Inn it was a nice older hotel the rooms did have panel wall but it was clean smelling. Misty Harbor is also a nice local own hotel it is not ocean front, you do have to cross the main street to get to the beach. It does have a reputation for having far rates. The colonial Arms is also a nice hotel. Stay away from the following hotel Ocean Voyeur(biggest dump in OC) . The Admiral (Have to share bathroom with the other rooms) . The Redu (on the boardwalk but been told the rooms smell.) P.S the Frances Scott Key resort in West O.c is really a nice place to stay. Has Two Olympic size pools and alot of other recreational actives. You do have to drive to O.C boardwalk and other area actions. Enjoy your vacation!
