I'm assuming your family is telling you this because they feel what you are wearing is inappropriate. My suggestion--- wear tights/leggings with the short skirts/dresses and buy some longer shorts (long shorts are in right now).

This is a personal preference thing. There isn't enough information in your question to give a real answer, but assuming the family members that object are older than you, and the skirts and shorts are what are the fashion today, I'd say they may have a point.
I'd look for some clothing that is a compromise:
A new fashion is the distressed and repaired blue jeans. They cover more and are in style. Short skirts can be had at many lengths, try a little longer, but not too long, maybe you can find something that will work for both needs: Fashion and Modesty.

It depends. Are they flattering for your body type? If they aren't for your body type then reconsider finding clothes that are. Women are all shapes and sizes and you can have a lot of fun with different kinds of clothes and colors to accentuate your figure. If you do have the body type for the short shorts and skirts and you feel comfortable in them then don't worry what others think. But remember, guys assume a lot of things about the way you dress. If you respect yourself then show it by dressing well. Have fun with fashion too!

im sorry gaby, but you are totally wrong! you should always listen to your family, even if you don't agree with them, you should at least seriously consider what they say.
if your family is saying that they're too short, then they probably are. there are a lot of long styles that are in, just try some out. your family is just trying to protect you, they don't want you running around in skimpy clothes and getting the wrong attention from guys.

I love long skirts. My bf desires the brief ones. So my closet is crammed w/ 1/2 and 1/2.
