Sincere responses only please. What kind of classroom discipline do you think is the best? Why is that? Thank you!

Please answer the "why" part. Also, although I know it is well intentioned when adults answer, it is the students who are actually in the classroom that I think have the best credentials to answer. Thank you.

Everybody hates mean teachers, but I think teachers can be strict without being mean. Teachers that are too easy will not prepare you for the real world. Strict teachers hold students to high standards of effort and behavior, but if students make a genuine effort then they are happy. Mean teachers, on the contrary, expect a certain perfection... and are mean about it! Teachers can be strict and mean, yes, but mostly there is a fine line. Strict teachers are good, but kids want easy teachers. Or, they just don't want mean teachers!

It depends on the class and the people in the class. Last year, I had an English teacher that was easygoing and the whole class loved being there despite the fact that it started at 7:30 am. Our class was well-behaved except for the usual one or two kids that think it's cool to talk back or just annoy everyone. This year in English, I was kind of dumped into the class with all of the jokers. They never did anything when she was easygoing so the teacher had to be really strict and enforce all of the homework and reading assignments. I liked that class because, when the teacher wasn't being hassled by the "bad seeds", she was really nice. Students should determine their own teacher's strictness.

I personally like the more easygoing teachers because there's not that additional stress to get everything done on time and perfect. I learn better when I'm not being pressured.

my wife teaches college english and has students mention how hard they think she is, but the ones that stick with it and don't drop, really excel.

she gets the high school students that have been passed on from year to year by teachers that didn't want to hurt the kids feelings or were just too lazy to try to teach them.

i have seen some of these students essays, and it is really sad sometimes. i feel bad that many students are not being taught good grammar, math, or whatever the subject.

so i would say that from my wife's experience, it is better to have higher standards in the classroom, and not have teachers that want to be your "pal".

by the way, she has also had students come back to her office (after moving on to the next level) and say how thankful they are that she was a "hard" teacher, because they really did learn something.

I am very serious in that answer, so bear with me:

DUR! Of course students are going to want an easy teacher! The question is - What is GOOD for them!

Now, research shows that positive reinforcement works better than punishment. That does not mean to be easy or undisciplined. It does mean student should be encouraged and praised when they do well - and if they have trouble, put them in situations where they WILL do well, and build their confidence.

I prefer teachers who know what they are talking about and not just reading verbatim from a book with no show of whether they actually understand what they are reading. I like kind teachers who are warm towards students and genuinely concerned. I also want a teacher who makes consequences for unwelcome behaviour. Young people, actually most people, respect consequences. Consequences are what motivate most people to not do the wrong thing.

strict - the reason is that kids with ADD/ADHD bother me so freakin much and I had about 3 I had to deal with in my classes this year. If my teachers had been more strict, I would have paid better attention and therefore learned a heck of a lot more! Just kick a student out of your classroom when they can't control themselves please!

i do no longer comprehend truly it is particularly the two in midsection college they only gave out punishments for the least little component in case you the place like a million minuet previous by using type you may get a detention in case you uttered one be conscious in lesson you may get shouted at or given a detention after college yet in extreme college it became strict yet you could desire to flee with allot greater unquestionably without instructors looking out in case you the place naughty you get put in yet another room for something of the lesson and in case you refused they might basically deliver you residing house. so i might in all hazard say midsection college.
