I have a very close and long time friend who is a 23year old virgin. She has told me that she is considering having sex for the first time and is wondering what to expect as far as pain, bleeding, etc. She also wants to know if it will hurt the first time only, or for the first several times she has intercourse. I guess she is uncomfortable asking her females friends because she is embarrased about being 23yrs old and having not slept with anyone.

I have somewhat of an understanding about all these questions, but I'd rather get the opinion of females who have experienced this first hand so that I don't give her any false info.

Thanks in advance for the help.

This all depends on the individual, the first sexual encounter will differ from woman to woman, there could be pain and bleeding, but there might not be. Best idea is to take it nice and slow. It may still hurt many times afterwards, as it does take awhile for the body to get used to the act. There is also a high chance of getting a yeast infection or bladder infection after the first sexual encounter. I would say the best idea would be to go to the doctors after and get a physical done. She should not be embarassed about her age and her virginity. I myself lost it when I was 21, it is nothing to be ashamed of. Losing your virginity is a very serious thing, not to be taken lightly.

There will be some discomfort, but it won't be so bad that you have to stop. There is a little blood involved. It just depends on a lot of things. Afterward she will be aware of having had intercourse. The feeling will pass in a day or a few days. The next time it will be better. The most important thing is that she really has to want to do this. If she is uncomfortable and not at all aroused, she will wonder why anyone does it--it will be that bad for her.

You can't always expect the first time to be painful, some of the girls I've spoken to say that it didn't hurt the first few times, but it did hurt when they didn't have sex for a few months. Personally, I'd say the first time is a bit uncomfortable but it gets better, and you adjust to the feeling of the person you are with.

My frist few times hurt slightly but so did trying to put in a tampon for the first time. It wasn't killer pain just a slight burning type pain and I had some spotting, but it was nothing that kept me and my man from trying again. It was very romanitc and being in the right mood and it being the right time and all, none of the other stuff mattered and most men understand.

Anytime during sex. There is semen that drips out even before ejaculation. The chances are much greater during ejaculation, however, anytime during intercourse is possible to get pregnant.

Ever hear of "popping a cherry". You may experience soreness and some minor bleeding.
