Phlox is very pretty on a hill and it spreads....a variety of colors too. For the desert cactus of course, and aloe vera plants, rose bushes ( with a little shade).. Buy a 40llb bag of potting soil to mix with soil you are planting in..mix well. water after you plant then every other day. til you see results. except for aloe. dont water them much maybe once a week for two weeks then once a month.

Some of the plants I'd suggest would be penstemon, zinnias, artemisia, sage, catmint, spike salvia, iceplants, flax, blanket flowers, poppy mallow.....just to name a few.

Try High Country Gardens. They have a plethora of choices as they specialize in zeriscapic (drought tolerant) plants. I've order from them and even visited their store. They are absolutely incredible and extremely great to work with!
