While it seems to be cheating the only thing to talk about is the fact that he hit 73 one year and never over 50,he was still going to get to 700 w/300 stolen bases lifetime avg. around300 a decent fielding % fact . HE WAS AND IS STILL GOING TO THE HALL OF FAME . and i really dont care for the guy that much ,but he was in his prime the best ball player of his or maybe any era.

It's not an issue if it WAS illegal or not, it's the principle of the matter. It's a far smaller baseball issue than it is a morals isssue, because of his talent-juiced or not, he's a role model. if he likes it or not. The roids don't make you a better hitter or fielding, it makes you a better performer based on stamina and preventative injury. He's going to the Hall of Fame, yes, but it will always be tainted. The year he hit 73 in the race with Mark McGuire-the home run totals were sky high, plus the talent pool was watered down, the homers they both hit only factor into a small %, AND they were pitching to HIM!!!!

Yes! Since baseball is glorified as our national past-time and dictated by statistics his (and everyone else who did illegal performance drugs) use of the clear and the cream constitutes a huge deal. It WAS and STILL IS ILLEGAL to possess steroids without a prescription and they (all major leaguers) should be banished from the HOF similar to Pete Rose. Most say that an asterisk would suffice, but attempting to determine when it started would be a never-ending project. SO, I say just ban their HOF credentials.

Yeah, it is a big deal. He cheated, he took something that gave him a decided edge over everyone else. I also believe that when it's all said and done, he WON'T be in the Hall of Fame. The only people who give a damn about him are the Giants, because without him, they are a second tier team.

FYI, taking steroids without a prescription is a crime. It may not have been against the rules of baseball, but it is against the law.

If Bonds knowingly took steroids without a prescription, he committed a crime. He should be punished in a court of law.

BTW, Babe Ruth knowingly took illegal substances when he was a player. Anyone that says otherwise is ignorant or a liar.

Actually, in all likelihood, the substances he took were illegal; while they may not have been prohibited by MLB rules, they were not approved by the FDA and were thus illegal drugs.
