I think the boy Caterpillars might have a more distinct pattern.. However, the caterpillars here near the beach, all look the same. They emerge from a caccoon with black wings, bordered by a pale yellow, and a beautiful blue spot in the center of each wing.

The name is Cloaked Monitor.
Try entering in the search bar, Van Couver Island B.C. caccoons, butterflies, or caterpillars. The island has an extensive live exhibition where you can walk through and view them. I have never been there. Just dreaming....

that's hard to say because they are both alike, but i would have to say that bigger sized caterpillars are the males because most animals that are males are usually known to be bigger

P.S. i hope this answered your question :-D
