Black Eyed Peas work well, or just about any popular hip hop club song you'll hear on the Top 40 stations. Another choice is to go with some oldies. Surf music and the like... A little Beach Boys here, a little Motown there.

SAD or ROCK? Okay.. I'm no longer certain on that. If through unhappy you imply.... gradual and variety of emo... Evanescence has tons of those, as good as rock, equivalent to: Hello Like You My Immortal Your Star Missing All That I'm Living For Sweet Sacrifice Weight of the World Going Under The Veronicas: All I Have Heavily Broken In Another Life Someone Wake Me Up My Chemical Romance has tons of well rock songs, and so does Switchfoot.

Do you like coldplay? That 'clocks' song is up-tempo. Some of Pearl jam's stuff is more accoustic/emo. I also like running to STP's accoustic Plush and Nirvana's accoustic from the MTV unplugged. You could also try jazz or a different genre of music. I think reggae is too slow to run too, but maybe like ska or punk, I also like some rap too - but it kind of depends. That Dre/Eminem "forgot about Dre" has a good rhythm to run too as well.
Good luck!!
