This is not a backgroud but shows over any background can't click on it or delete--I basically, don't know how. None of the answers, so far, have owrked. (I have my dog as background and smeared across is a distorted YAHOO logo almost obscuring him!

Change the desktop wallpaper. Open any image you like from your My document folder & open the image, then right click on the image & set "save a background".

Right click on that logo, and a small screen should pop up. On that screen, click on the Properties option and then you should have a choice of different backgrounds to choose from. You can have any image stored on your hard drive as a background image.

Minimize all windows including this one. Right click on your desktop. A window will appear...scroll down and left click on PROPERTIES.
A list of image files will be listed. You can choose any one of them to be your new background picture OR you can click NONE at the top of the list. If you want to search your computer for ANOTHER IMAGE that you want to use instead of any on that list you can by clicking BROWSE.
Find the image / picture you want to use as your desktop background picture and click on it. The file name will appear in the window ...now click OPEN
and it will be set as your desktop background picture.
You can stretch it to fit your screen or center it or tile it ...however you want it!

Go to your desktop and right-click on an open area. When it comes up, click Properties, then Desktop and select a new background.

if it is on your desktop background just right click on your mouse then go to properties, then click the desktop tab, then click what other background you would like to choose------or you can go to your favorite webpage and find a picture and right click on it and click set as background----hope this helped
if it is just the icon ON your desktop---just right click and hit delete

click on start then click on control panel and seclect app. and theams, thats where you can change it at
