Pending on where you live, sometimes the state offers a service to stop telemarketers from calling. I know we have this for our home in IL. It works 98% of the time. I am not sure where to get it though.

Congress gave all these telemarketers permission to harass us and the freedom to record our conversations citing training purposes. Case over and closed. Of course , you could use an Indian accent ( no offense but it irritates a lot of people) when you answer the phone. It goes like this: "Hello? Yes, this Hank. ( Then, when they start in with their pitch)...Tank oo fer culling about pea apoofed car loan." And keep it up until they hang up. Lots of fun. Or , turn on FOX news, they hate that, and set the phone down by the TV. Another that is fun is to act as if you are on death row and have been waiting for your lawyer to call and you have to keep the line open.

Simply register your number at www.donotcall.gov. Keep in mind these telemarketers are only required to download an updated version of this list every 90 days, so it could take that long for the calls to ultimately end. After that they're in trouble. Good luck!

This is NOT true.. Urban Legend..
Cell phone users must register their numbers with the national "Do Not Call" directory to prevent their cell phone numbers from being released to telemarketers.
FALSE

Also there is a FREE 411 1-800-373-3411 / you will not be charged for calling 411 if you use this. I programmed my cell phone to this number... Just and FYI

Thankyou for this question. There is nothing more aggravating than a telemarketer calling at dinner time to try and sell you a second mortgage on your home. That would be all well and good except I don't own my home. Do they give out mortgages for rental????
