The Pooh-bear who crawls around and plays a little tune and says a couple of sentences? My foster child freaks out, crying uncontrollably when this thing is on the floor next to him. He watches it from the exersaucer with no problems. Has anyone else had this experience with a child?

The pooh is probably about the same size as he is right? He feels safe in the saucer because the pooh can't get him there. He might feel like the bear is chasing him or trying to get him when he is on the floor. Imagine if a talking bear your same size was following you around a room. It might help to play with he and the bear at the same time so he can see that you like it.

First I want to thank you for being a foster parent. There are too many children out there that need loving homes. Your son might not have had a problem with it awhile ago and does now because he is learning. Many things that didn't bother him earlier can become very frightening now. Mostly things that make noises like the pooh does. Put the toy away for awhile and bring it back out later. He might get over his fear. If you hold him and reassure him that he will be ok, it might help him begin to realize he doesn't need to be afraid of it.

We have a mechanical talking Pooh that moves its head back and forth as it talks and seemed to randomly start up and move around. We finally discovered that it started moving when it registered a sound to hopefully draw the attention of a child. Well it seemed that the talking and motion seemed to freak out our 16 month old daughter. She didn't cry, but definitely moved away from it in a hurry. We also have the bouncing Tigger which almost obnoxious so I understood when she got away from that thing.

for some reason it's the mild noise and movements that Pooh makes. My 3 year old use to be afraid of every toy that made noise or moved. Eventually she got over it but if she sees the talking Boobah in her sisters crib she won't go in the room. Eventually once your baby learns to discover I am sure she will love it

My daughter was the same way with a crawling Mickey. I just put it away for a while, until she was older. After a couple of months, she was fine with it.

Lots of babies are scared of different things. 8 months is about the time when they begin to show attachment and the like (Due to frontal lobe maturation) and behavior like this becomes most common. My daughter was really scared of this frog bath toy so i put it in front of the stairs to keep her away :)
