I hired this young lady to clean my house. I am a busy working mom with 3 kids ages 10 and 7 y/o twins. Its hard to keep my house tidy but its not too bad- some dishes in the sink and floor needs to be mopped. I just called the baby sitter and my little girl told me that she and the babysitter are cleaning my house!! I'm a bit mortified (grateful, honestly) but seriously. I don't want her to think this is part of her job. I guess the mess was enough for her to want to do something about it. What should I do??? I cannot afford to pay extra- if I could I most definently would since help with housework is a dream come true. I am so embarrased... what should i do???

When I used to baby sit when i was a kid, i always cleaned the house I was babysitting at just cuz i would get bored and want to do something. I say don't worry about it - tell her thanks, and that she really doesn't need to do that and if she keeps cleaning it's probably just something she wants to do. So then just be happy for the extra help and let her know she did a great job!

I use to do the same when I was babysitting when I was younger! I would thank her for it all! Maybe even give her a small gift or a card. Let her know how much u appreciate it- but u cannot afford to pay extra. I always did it out of boredom and for something to do! She may just be keeping her and the kids busy while u r at work! Sounds like you have an angel on your hands! Pass her around by god!

Relax honey, she's cleaning your house because she wants too, not because you asked her to. When you can afford it, give her a little extra bonus and tell her you're glad she's your babysitter and is so trustworthy and you hope no one will "steal" her away from you, that would devastate you. That will mean more to her than money. There is no need to be embarrassed about anything, you are a working parent and don't have time to clean the house 24/7 with 3 kids to take care of.

When I was young and sitting for people, I used to try and get the kids to help me clean up around the house. I just always thought it would be a nice surprise for their parents. Plus the kids were always very proud to show and tell them what they helped with. I figured it was a bonus for the kids and the parents.

Maybe she's just a little bored or she is a blessing in disguise. You can thank her by baking her some chocolate cookies and then taking them over personally w/ a thank you card. While you're there get to know her family better and let them know how great she is. Recognition and knowing someone appreciates you is major with teens. (I assume she is a teen because of the babysitting job).

Thank her, maybe give her a little bonus here and there but don't make it extra pay. She might just be bored or looking for stuff for her and the kids to do. Shouldn't be a big deal, just appreciate it, less you have to do. I have one and don't have the energy or time to really "clean" like I want to, but manage.

You can only tell her you appreciate her extra effort and perhaps explain the house can be a mess at times until you get time to straighten things up...then when you do come up with alittle extra...give her a tip....perhaps buy her movie tickets...gift certificate...what ever is affordable...but at least show your appreciation.

Dont be embarrased.When I baby sat I just cleaned as part of the job I never expected extra pay and I dont think she does neither.

You could tell her that the extra work isn't necessary. But honestly, I did the same thing to keep the time going.

She's doing it on her own so just thank her. Why not once in a while throw in some extra cash and tell her how much you appreciate her.
