Keyword research is a very important process. To get your website to rank top, you need to find good keywords which are in high demand and yet low supply. It is rare to find such a keyword but it is still possible. Think of what keywords people might type to find your site in the search engine. Analyse from the top first few searches keywords which they specifically use and u try to optimise (but not copy) those keywords by including in your meta tag. You might want to use wordtracker to help you in this case. For instance, let's say yoga teacher can be found in the top few searches. You may want to try yoga teaching or yoga trainer and use wordtracker to test out how good these keywords are before putting in your meta tags.

◙◙ Promote Your Site ◙◙

◙ You need to submit your site to many search engines. Search engines will not accept your site if it is listed on free-for-all list sites. They will not accept it if it is a newbie site that is about them only. Think of a subject and write about it. It can take 2 weeks to 6 months or more before they list you. Even if they do accept your site you'll need to check your listing occasionally to make certain it is still listed. If a site gets no traffic or isn't updated regularly they will delte your listing. If you are a serious webmaster you will need to read about site optimisation at http://www.searchengines.com/ Another great site is http://www.searchenginewatch.com/ Search engine submission tips (lots of info) http://www.searchenginewatch.com/webmasters/

◙ You'll find about 400 search engines here.

◙ There are web sites that claim to submit your site to hundreds of search engines at once. The only one I recommend is http://www.dmoz.org/ The other search engines use this directory to supplement their own directories. Youdd it to google here http://www.google.com/addurl/

◙ If you have a Geocities home page list it in Geocities Homepage Directory http://pages.yahoo.com/ You'll find help for that here http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/geo/gmembers/

for google there's GOOGLE sitemap:

http://www.google.com/webmasters/sitemaps/siteoverview?hl=en

This is a way to enter your website so that Google web-bots can crawl your site and add it to their index. I recently did it for a friend's website and it took a couple of weeks before the site started showing up on google.

Other search engines like yahoo have a similar method like this. You just have to look for it. In yahoo search for "submit url for yahoo search engine" and see what you get.

Enjoy!
