uhhgg! some people just dont get it! i mean of course there are bad sides about it like the gross old men who try to pick up young people. but you CAN be safe on there. i'm pretty young and i have a myspace and i dont add anyone to my friends list that i actually dont know. and if someone that you dont want to know, messages you, you can just block them!!! you add pictures and you can decorate your profile any way you want. it's not harmful to anyone! (if you use it properly) although it is really addicting.... but i have nothing better to do during the summer anyway. so ya.
if you want to check out my profile it's at

Myspace is great to keep in touch with old friends -- I actually answered a similar question just a second ago...

It is as safe as you make it! You decide how much detail you plan to share with "the world"...so these people saying that it's a great way to get stalkers....yeah I suppose it is possible - but no more than walking to your car from the grocery store....

I've got a page and I use it to keep in touch with Real Life friends... Also, if you set the age to show that you're 13 years old, it will not let anyone view your profile that isn't your friend. You can always put your real age in your headline.

Myspace isn't responsible for the stupidity of high-schoolers deciding to throw caution to the wind and go meet some guy they met on the internet. They're not going to be shut down for that, any more than Jim Beam is going to be shut down for people drinking and driving. It's a matter of common sense.

Anyway, I'll step down off the soapbox. I have a myspace profile & I love it --- hey it's free, try it out -- if you don't like it you can always delete!.

I don't see what the big deal is. It's grounds for relationship troubles. And no, it's not safe. News shows keep reporting about it on TV. A girl met a guy on MySpace, they met, he took her to dinner, a movie and then raped her. It's a horrible thing. Parents need to pay more attention to their children. I used to be a member, but closed the account because I found it pointless and boring. If I want to get in contact with old friends I'll make some phone calls. Simple as that.

Whether its safe or not depends on how much info about yourself you give out. Some things you can do to be safe on Myspace are:
-not post pics of yourself but of thins you like (logo of fav. band, etc)
-not give out your address or school

You can also go to "edit my profile" then click on "account settings" then click "privacy settings". there will be an option that says "who can view my profile" and there are two options (anyone under 18 on myspace or only my friends)....the safer way is "only my friends"

theres really no harm in myspace as long as you are cautious about what info you give out and make sure the people you ad as friends really are your friends and not someone pretending to be them

I think its safe as you can only add who you want and can even make it so other people cant see it without being your friend.

I am a member, and I dont consider myself socially inept, I think its a bit of fun. Whats the point in having a YAHOO PROFILE you might say. It's just a giant profile for you and has Forums too. Much like Yahoo or MSN but without a messenger service to back it.

well myspace is safe in a way that you have to watch out what you put on there, right now 13 and 14 year olds and taking it over saying there 18 or 21, but yeah my little sister has one, i watch over it and make sure she has nothing to reveling...

I signed up for myspace, but I couldn't figure it out. So I just stook with my xanga site. the big deal is stalkers and pervers are going on there and finding young girls and are trying to meet up with them. It was in either People or Us magize.

It’s actually particularly cool. they grant a effective framework that you may perceive your hobbies, which includes what you prefer to study, watch on television, video clips. you may positioned up images, and in reality, have collections of imagery on the positioning. There’s a area the position your “friends” (different myspace individuals with links to theirspaces) are observed, and your individuals can positioned up comments on your web site. it is also conceivable to have a topic music that starts off playing at the same time as human beings visit yourspace. in short, it’s an straight forward way that you may set up a internet web site that defines who you're, and link it on your pal’s areas.

I have looked at it but did not find it appealing. I just don't get it.
Especially those who get excited that they can get celebrities on their "friends" list.. Like one would contact them.. Come on now...
Plus your hear all of the time about people using it for the wrong reasons (pedophiles, scams, etc..). Nothings safe when you put your whole life onto the web for the world to see. Plus, some of you ladies need to put some clothes on.. Where's your respect, do you need attention that bad???

It's crap and an easy way of attracting stalker's and pedophiles o getting your identity stolen. Trust me, you're better off without a myspace account.
