I believe in it but your description isn't correct.
Reiki IS energy. It doesn't move energy.
The practitioner channels the Reiki energy from the universe into the person who needs it. That energy can be used for many things including healing.

The question as to whether Reiki is a valid healing modality depends upon a few things. If you accept the notion of some form of universal energy as the foundation of all things...in China, this energy is known as chi; in Japan, it's known as ki. Also, if you accept that this universal energy can be manipulated, such as through acupuncture, martial arts, meditation, and/or yogic practices. If you accept these two premises, then yes, Reiki should be able to heal by manipulating the ki or universal energy.
As a Reiki II practitioner, it has been my experience that, although Reiki is frequently taught as something that anyone can do, the quality of healing can vary greatly from practitioner to practitioner. Thus, one also finds studies that contradict each other: some say Reiki's ability to positively influence an outcome is minimal, while other studies reveal it can be greatly beneficial.
Give it a try. I find, at the very least, Reiki is a great stress reducer, and can powerfully impact health just by the sheer loving relaxation that a reiki session can deliver.
Namaste.

It really helped a friend of mine. I believe in a lot of alternative cures, such as acupuncture, Morter, Reiki, etc.
