I plan on getting a job, but I want to do something else too. I want to meet new people and become more socially involved. I live in Detroit, MI. Any suggestions? Thanks!!

I'm in the "D" also. I would probably suggest that you go volunteer at the C.H.Wright African American museum. How old are you? Hang out around the types of places where you might meet people who are interested in some of the same things you're interested in. Stay away from Hart Plaza after dark of course. Enjoy some of the entertainment at the Detroit Zoo or Chene Park. You've got to introduce yourself to people with the same interest and ask them where the "happening" spot is for your interest. What you could do is be an assistant counselour for the YMCA CEP. This would cover you getting a job. You could also go on a trip by yourself and meet some new friends. Your new job as a counselour would cover all the shopping and hotel and food and other stuff.

I think you should do something brand new and meet new types of people too. Get on the net and research something you like to do and find out if it has a group. This summer I am joining a ghost hunters club and we are going to waverly hills sanitorium to find some ghost, and believe me I have net alot of INTERESTING people!

you could vounter at a local animal shelter and make some dogs and cats happy. or you could vounter at a nurssing home, or other orginations or maybe become someones big brother or did sister alot of small things could make a difference in someone's life i volunter at a loacal dog kennel and i enjoy seeing the dogs and helping them have a good day, and give them lots of love. go to the mall or do what i do which is help out people 4 money like babysit its fun 4 me cause i like little kids or if u really want 2 meet people do something like skating or go to the closest basketball court in your neiborhood that is if u have 1 because thats were u meet alot of people

Learn to wind surf, It's super fun and you get to meet cool people.
Once you try it you'll be addicted for life. Maybe even get a job at a wind surfing shop.
