How do i come along and ask my mom if i can start plucking my eyebrows? i would like to, i have thick eyebrows (width-wise) and i am 14. all of my friends do, and i would like to look nice for my new boyfriend. And for all of you that think it is too early for me to be dating, i don't really care, and my mom is fine w/ it.

Hon, my daughter dated at 14 (closer to 15 but same difference) and some are more capable of accepting that responsibility than others. Sounds like you have an open relationship with your mom and your mom trusts your judgement on some things. Keep up the good work...and keep communicating with her, you won't be sorry.

As for shaping your eyebrows, this can be done and done well but from someone who has a daughter your age, I'll say what I said to her...research! Read up on how to pluck your eyebrows, proper shaping that will flatter your facial features, what not to do etc.

My daughter has absolutely gorgeous eyebrows...that she plucks herself and does so very well. Of course she also cuts her own hair, another thing I hate her for :) she does a better job than I do and she also applies makeup so well it appears almost totally natural. She loves to pick out my clothes as well when I go out socializing and compliments are a normal thing...she was a fashion consultant in a previousl life I think.

So enough bragging, check out the following sites first okay? You'll have beautiful eyebrows in no time...providing you take things slow and do things correctly... Good luck and be sure your mom is okay with this first, don't want you to get in trouble :)

I would imagine that if you are 14 you are allowed to shave your legs and underarms. Plucking eyebrows is, in my eyes, at least, very similar, in that it involves removing or grooming unwanted hair.

Just talk to your mom about it. Ask her if it's okay for you to do it. If she says no, don't fight, and don't whine. Just ask her what her objection is so that you understand where she is coming from. (When I was your age, I felt a lot better about being told "No" for something if I had an explanation and could see my parents' point of view.) I think that as with all things at your age, just coming right out and asking your mom about it is probably the best bet. And if she says yes, you have the added bonus of having her help you learn how to shape your eyebrows, and the best way to pluck, etc.

You may start plucking, and find out that you don't like it, and decide to stop later, or you may decide that you really like it, and make it a part of your regular grooming regimen. Either way, just talk to your mom and have a good discussion with her about it. Explain to her why you would like to do it. It seems like a pretty tame thing to me, but your mom might have entirely different opinions on it. But your best bet is just to be honest with her about wanting to do it.

Either way, good luck!

you should definatley wax your eyebrows. you can get them done at a hair salon, or just pluck them yourself. You can just say something to your mom like "I don't like how my eyebrows look" or something like that. And as for dating, I am also 14 years old and I've been dating for about 3 months now. If you're not ready, then you can wait. But if you want to date, the best thing to do is probably go to a movie. Good luck!

Plucking your eyebrows or ridding your self of a unibrow? i imagine 11 is an o.k. time to get rid of that unibrow, yet easily plucking your eyebrows... yeah 11 is somewhat youthful. i imagine i became about 13 at the same time as i began getting my eyebrows waxed, and on the time i became like i'm the right age (i became easily in 9th grade.. a freshman in intense college.. seems old precise). Now questioning about it 13 seems youthful, yet 14 doesn't(?) i'd say 14 is a great time to really start up handling your eyebrows.

why do you have to ask your mum? Ive been plucking my eyebrows since I was like, 10! See if you can get a friend to give you some advice, its easy to screw up first time round. Best advice is less is more (less plucking, that is). I think 14 is fine to start plucking your eyebrows if you want to ; )

First of all you "pluck" a chicken. Eyebrows are either "tweezed" or "waxed".

As far as your age is concerned, I think you are old enough. Just start out easy. Don't over-do it, don't take too much off. Just clean the stray hairs up here and there. Follow the natural shape of your eyebrow.

Thicker eyebrows are actually much more in style these days than skinny, penciled-in brows, so if you decide to pluck, don't overdo it. Most women take care of their brows by plucking or waxing... waxing is quicker and easier, but I am not a fan... my mom does mine for me every so often. Just take out the extra hairs for now, don't try to do too much shaping... It might also help to enlist someone who does theirs regularly (and well) so you don't go tweezer happy and end up whoopi goldberging.

If your mom is fine with you being 14 and having a boyfriend, she should be okay with the plucked eyebrows. Ask her for help. But for your own sake, don't tell her you want to look nice for him!
You should do it for YOURSELF!!!!

Ask your Mom to take you to a professional salon. It would be easier to maintain if you start with a good foundation. The problem is when you really don't know what you are doing and you go overboard!! Maybe the two of you could go together - Mom's like that! This way she can be comfortable as well that you will look your best! Good Luck - from a Mom that wished her Mom did this and who has every intention of taking her own daughter to the salon when the time is appropriate!

Wax your first time. And you never want to look nice for some guy, you look nice to enhance your own beauty! (your eyebrows don't make you look beautiful!) If your mother is okay with you dating at 14, then she'll be okay with plucking/tweezing. But you should wax first and then pluck for maintence. Easier that way for you! I am a serious waxer. It lasts for almost a month and no plucking!
