I love Mitch's answer, but i have a better one coming.

QBs are a great factor for a team. But wait, has anyone ever heard of the phrase:

DEFENSE WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS!

I'd have to say that a QB alone cannot bring a team to a national title. Defenses have won so many championships in the past. For example, the Bucs in 2003. Their defense was impenetrable that year, and that's why they went all the way. I hate the Patriots, but they do have a phenomenal defense, and they've one 3 times in the past five years. In 2005, New England beat Philly and Philly has by far a better quarter back.

On that note, the team with the better defense this year is going to win the super bowl, and by the looks of it, that has to be either the Bears or the Falcons in the NFC and the Colts or the Steelers in the AFC.

In the end, it's the Colts turn because they've been so close in the past few years, and their biggest contender, the Patriots, don't seem to be too much of a threat as much. The Bears had a great season last year and their defense is just getting better and better, and becoming more experienced.

My pick: Colts over Bears 24-10

OK everybody is gonna answer for the most part according to who they root for. If I were to be that way I would say the Eagles. I know this is very unlikely but I will still root for them.

Now, here is what I really think will happen. Look at QB's of teams, they are a huge factor. You need a tough and smart one to win a superbowl or else just get very lucky because of a powerful defense or something else.

So, looking at the makeup of some teams and considering who they have at QB, I will go with Carolina, Dallas, and Baltimore as my favorites. If I had to choose one. I'll pick the Panthers. Delhomme has been there and is an intelligent QB who does not get as much respect as he deserves. Smith can flat out burn the living crap out of any defender. Keyshawn is a good addition, because he is at the top or near the top for number of on-field plays participated (wide receivers only) in per game.

The Panthers can run and they can defend. I am not a Panthers fan, but they are a dam good team all around (Coaching, Defense, and Offense, not sure about there special teams).

Addition on 6-21-06:
I think the following Teams have zero shot at winning the SuperBowl (division order):
Buffalo
Miami
Jets
Browns
Texans
Jags
Titans
Chiefs
Raiders
Chargers
Redskins
Lions
Packers
Vikings
Falcons
Saints
Buccaneers
49ers
Rams

Before anyone gets ticked off cause I picked their favorite team to not win the Superbowl, please be realistic. Example: The Falcons have Vick at QB he is so overrated I don't know whhere to begin. Look at his stats closely and you will see what I mean. How many years has he played 16 games? What was his best QB rating or Avg QB rating. With a great defense how did the Falcons play at home last year (W-L home record? 4-4). A team like this needs a small miracle to get to and win the superbowl. Thats pretty much what I'm talking about for all the teams I mentioned.

Another Example: Tampa Bay. Chris Simms does not excite me. In 11 games he threw for more than 1 TD only three times and Cadillac was run into the ground for a good portion of the season. Tampa can absolutely make the playoffs, but win the Superbowl, I don't think so. It wouldn't take a small miracle for the Bucs to get to the Superbowl but it would for them to win it. I count 11 games this year which will put them to the test, take a look at their schedule.

Redskins... why?.. I Feel that we have the Best Defense. Yea, It's messed up we lost Lavar Arrington, but I didn't forget about all of our underrated players on Defense. Shawn Springs, Lamar Marshall, Joey Salvea', Cornelius Griffin, Marcus Washington. The big Names, like Shawn Taylor, and Newly Acquired veterans Safety Adam Acheleta & Andre Carter. Progressing Sophmore Carlos Rogers, and many more.

On the Offense Side, we have the Highley underrated TE/HB Chris Cooley. All of our Offensive Weapons.... Santana Moss, Brandon Lloyd, Antwan Randle El, David Patten. Clinton Portis

Great Blocking, With John Jansen, Chris Samuels, Randy. I mean, I can go on forever. Mark Brunell Stepped it up last year, but I'm hoping that Jason Campell gets his chance to run the offense someday and be succesful.

The NFC will not be prepared for all of the Damage we're about to do in the conference.

Greg Williams, Al Saunders, and most importantly Joe Gibbs, WILL get this team to the Superbowl and WIN!! Period, Explanation point or whatever. It's Ours, and we're taking it home!! And we're gonna do it against the Colts. Yea I said it.

bengals out of the afc because they are a good all around team. Carson palmer is going to come back and chad johnson is going to play great. Their defense had 31 int last year. They have some good veterans. They have the running game. Now out of the nfc im going to say the giants because lavar arrington fills the hole they needed on defense. Eli is going to have a good year because of some new recievers. Tiki barber is going to win the rushing title with an even better performance then last year. bengals win 34-31 in ot

AFC
San Diego Chargers

Phillip Rivers has Rothlisberger type season. He doesn't put up Peyton like numbers but he will be eficient and smart with the ball. When you have offensive weapons like Gates and Tomlinson defenses need to be on their toes.

Defense has been upgraded and the 3-4 suits these players well. Shawne Merriman will have one of the best seasons for a second year linebacker. Jamal Williams, Igor Olshansky and Luis Castillo anchor a solid defensive front that does not give up a lot of yards.

I believe the AFC winner will come out of the West. NFC winner out of the East, probably Dallas.

I vote for the Chargers for these reasons:

1. Best Tight End in Football-Gates
2. One of the Top RB's in Football-Tomlinson
3. QB ranked higher than Big Ben in '04 draft-Rivers
4. Best MLB in Football-Merriman
5. Easier schedule than last year
